The weekend is here and if you have a couple of days off why not enjoy Worcestershire?
Pershore
5 minutes drive from the Confetti Field is Pershore – a lovely Georgian town definitely worth a visit. There’s wonderful Abbey with a great park and kids’ playground (including a new zip line!). We have the river Avon, a wetlands area, an ancient woodland, wonderful Georgian buildings. And that’s before we mention the fabulous independent shops including books, clothes, gifts, and food and a great range of cafes and pubs. And on Saturday 5th there is a local market in Broad Street.
Whatsmore, this weekend it plays host to a Midsummer Brass festival – including plenty of free music performances around the town centre.
5 minutes in the other direction the pretty village of Fladbury has a walkabout.
The Malverns
Heading a bit further a field Malvern is hosting a food festival this weekend. The town has a number of excellent places to eat and drink anyway, so if you are a foodie we really to recommend heading over that way… And of course it has the hills! You get spectacular views from a top the beautiful Malvern Hills (which you can walk up direct from the town).
Malvern is also home to Morgan cars – so if your whole family isn’t entirely keen on flowers why not do a morning with us and an afternoon visit to their show room (and delicious cafe)?
Shakespeare’s Stratford
The famous Stratford upon Avon – just a half an hour’s drive away – also has a festival of motoring this weekend (and probably a few venues showing the F1!). It is obviously a tourism hot spot, but consequently it is a lbustling town with loads of places to eat and drink. And, of course, a world class theatre!
Ideas for dinner
Worcester itself is a great little compact city – the majestic cathedral and river Severn are the top sights and it is a city full of good place to eat and drink. Right by the M5 it offers a great place to stop for dinner on your way home from the field.
If you are headed in the other direction Cheltenham also offers plenty of choice for dinner. And Dunkerton’s Cider Taproom on the London road out of town is a buzzy spot with a huge range of street foods.
The Cotswolds
If you are driving up from London we recommend heading home along the A roads rather than the M40 and enjoying some of the delights of the area. It won’t be hard to find a great pub for dinner, a beautiful village for sight seeing or fabulous shopping in towns like Broadway, Stow On the Wold, Chipping Norton, Woodstock or Burford. The famous Daylesford farm shop is open until 8pm too…
It doesn’t look like it will be so hot this weekend so ideal for a road trip!
FYI this is not a sponsored post – just some ideas to help you enjoy a fantastic weekend. There is more to be read on our Local Area page.
